The Collection of Personal Information When you engage in certain activities on this site, such as viewing information, downloading selected content or files, utilizing 3rd party links, or entering contests, GBTI may ask you to provide certain information about yourself by filling out and submitting an online form. It is completely optional for you to engage in these activities. If you elect to engage in these activities, however, GBTI may ask that you provide us personal information, such as: your name, address, phone number, e-mail address. How Your Personal Information Is Used GBTI collects your information in order to record and support your participation in the activities you select. If you are accessing teacher resources or student resources for example, the information is used to verify your status as an educator or student, grant & log access, and to maintain your customer history. Protection of Your Personal Information The personal information that you provide is protected in several ways. Access by you to your personal information is available through a password and/or unique customer ID provided to you. In addition, your personal information resides on a secure server that only selected GBTI personnel may access via password. GBTI protects your information when it is being transmitted to GBTI. We do not sell or divulge your personal information to third parties. Use of Cookies When you visit www.gabioscience.org you can surf the site anonymously and access most information without revealing your identity. In order to enable certain areas however, we use "cookies" for automated administration purposes. A cookie is small amount of data that is transferred to your browser by a Webserver and can only be read by the server that gave it to you. It functions as your identification card, helping to correlate your passwords, logins, and preferences to your personal browser. It cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses. Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, giving you the option to decide whether or not to accept it.
